“Primavera,” a movie about Antonio Vivaldi, the Italian Baroque composer and violinist who penned “The 4 Seasons,” has been purchased by a flurry of main distributors.
Represented by Memento Worldwide, the film shot in Rome and Venice, and marks the characteristic debut of Damiano Michieletto, a number one opera director.
Warner Bros. will launch the film in Italy whereas Diaphana Distribution will launch it in France. The pre-sales closed by Memento Worldwide are Benelux (Cineart), Germany and Austria (X Verleih), Spain (A Contracorriente Movies), Switzerland (Frenetic) and Poland (M2 Movies). A number of different territories are in negotiations.
“Primavera” was penned by Ludovica Rampoldi, the award-winning screenwriter of flicks equivalent to “The Traitor” and “Gomorrah – the sequence,” amongst others. The script is loosely tailored from Tiziano Scarpa’s critically acclaimed novel “Stabat Mater.”
Set in 18th century Venice, “Primavera” follows Cecilia, a 20-year-old violin virtuoso who lives on the Pièta orphanage. Regardless of her expertise, Cecilia stays confined inside the orphanage, figuring out that marriage is the one manner out. But, her life takes a flip after she meets Antonio Vivaldi, an excellent and bold composer who turns into the brand new violin trainer. Guided by Vivaldi and his music, Cecilia “finds the energy to problem the future that when appeared inevitable,” reads the synopsis. “Primavera” stars Tecla Insolia (“The Artwork of Pleasure”) as Cecilia and Michele Riondino (“Palazzina Laf,” “Worldly Lady”) as Vivaldi.
Michieletto has collaborated with main Italian and worldwide opera homes, from Teatro alla Scala in Milan to the Royal Opera Home in London, and from Teatro La Fenice in Venice to the Staatsoper in Berlin, in addition to the Opéra Bastille in Paris.
The stellar key crew contains cinematographer Daria D’Antonio (“The Hand of God,” “Parthenope”), editor Walter Fasano (“Name me by your title,” “Suspiria”), composer Fabio Massimo Capogrosso (“Kidnapped”), manufacturing designer Gaspare De Pascali (“Sicilian Letters”) and costume designer Maria Rita Barbera (“The Son’s room”).
Primavera is a Warner Bros. Leisure Italia and Indigo Movie manufacturing (“La Grande Belleza” and “Youth” by Paolo Sorrentino), in co-production with Moana Movies. The film obtained the backing of the fund Regione Lazio PR FESR and the Fondazione Veneto Movie Fee.
