Tenerife’s Bendita Movie Gross sales has picked up worldwide gross sales for “Recollections of a Burning Physique,” a hybrid-doc simply chosen for the Berlinale Panorama. 

Directed by Antonella Sudasassi Furniss, the Costa Rican writer-director-producer, that is her second movie following the critically acclaimed “The Awakening of the Ants.” 

Her debut movie, which premiered at Berlinale 2019, was the Costa Rican entry for the Academy Awards and obtained world recognition, together with a Goya Award nomination, and Costa Rica’s first Platino Award.

“We instantly fell in love with the movie after we attended the WIP screening at Ventana Sur, the place it will later win the primary awards in Primer Corte,” stated Luis Renart, CEO at Bendita Movie Gross sales.

“Antonella has a stunning expertise and has crafted a gorgeous, trustworthy, intimate and distinctive movie,” he added. “On the finish of the [Ventana Sur] screening, nearly all attendees stayed silent for a couple of minutes, deeply moved by the confessions and aspirations of these ladies whose voices weave the story of our protagonist. We knew instantly that we needed to dedicate all our efforts to bringing this movie to worldwide audiences.”

The movie’s tagline – “pleasure and need by way of the reminiscence and intimacy of three ladies over 65” –  merely frames this poignant hybrid doc’s narrative.

“Recollections of a Burning Physique” follows Ana, Patricia, and Mayela, who grew up in a time when sexuality was a taboo subject. Now, channeled as a single 65-year-old girl, the protagonist revisits a life full of intertwined recollections, secrets and techniques, and hidden wishes, giving a voice to the unstated experiences of her previous.

Antonella’s directorial imaginative and prescient is obvious. “’Recollections of a Burning Physique’ is the dialog I by no means had with my grandmothers,” she explains in her assertion. The movie represents a collective outcry of girls who, regardless of societal taboos, dare to speak about their intimate secrets and techniques. It explores themes of womanhood, sexuality, and self-discovery throughout the context of a conservative Latin American society.

Bendita Movie Gross sales’ acquisition marks a continued dedication to high-profile arthouse cinema, following pickups of the liminal soul monitoring “Samsara,” from Lois Patiño, and Itsaso Arana’s debut “The Women are Alright,” hailed by Selection as “a delicate examine of feminine friendship that blows in on a heat Summer time breeze”

“Recollections of a Burning Physique” can have its world premiere at Berlin.
