Charles Shyer, the writer-director finest recognized for the “Father of the Bride” remake starring Steve Martin, has died.
Shyer died Friday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Heart in Los Angeles after a short sickness, his daughter informed media retailers.
The Oscar-nominated author and director teamed with then-wife Nancy Meyers for a number of traditional ’80s comedies … together with “Non-public Benjamin,” “Irreconcilable Variations,” and “Child Growth.”
After all … it was the comedy traditional “Father of the Bride” the place the artistic couple discovered their largest success … a remake of the 1950 traditional, which spawned a profitable sequel in 1995.
Meyers and Shyer divorced in 1999 … their final official collaboration was the screenplay for “The Dad or mum Lure,” starring then-newcomer Lindsay Lohan.
He was 83.
