Woo Min-ho’s historic drama “Harbin” stormed to the highest of the South Korean field workplace for the weekend of Dec. 27-29.
The movie, set in 1909, follows Korean independence activists plotting the assassination of Japan’s Prime Minister throughout their quest for independence. Starring Hyun Bin, Park Jeong-min and Jeon Yeo-been, “Harbin” earned $5.9 million over the weekend, accounting for 55.3% of the whole field workplace with 903,865 admissions. This brings its cumulative earnings to $15.5 million. The field workplace figures are from Kobis, the monitoring service operated by the Korean Movie Council.
In second place, Kwak Gyeong-Taek’s “The Firefighters” portrays the lives of a devoted group of firefighters as they confront harmful conditions and private challenges whereas striving to guard their group.
