Angus MacInnes, a Canadian actor who appeared in “Star Wars: A New Hope” and “Rogue One,” has died. He was 77.

MacInnes died on Dec. 23 peacefully and surrounded by household, based on a press release by the MacInnes Household shared on social media.

“To all Angus’ followers world wide, with breaking hearts we write this: Angus MacInnes, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, good friend and actor died on twenty third of December 2024. He left us peacefully, surrounded by his household and love,” learn the assertion posted to Fb. “Angus’ profession spanned a long time, with unforgettable roles in movies equivalent to ‘Star Wars: A New Hope’ (as Gold Chief, Jon ‘Dutch’ Vander), ‘Witness,’ ‘Decide Dredd,’ ‘Captain Phillips,’ and plenty of others. His work touched numerous lives, and he took nice delight in being a part of these tales that proceed to resonate with audiences worldwide.”

The assertion continued, “Angus was greater than an actor—he was a sort, considerate, and beneficiant soul who introduced heat and humor into the lives of everybody who knew him. He might be deeply missed by his household, pals and fellow actors but additionally by his followers world wide – his household thanks all.”

MacInnes starred as Jon “Dutch” Vander, higher referred to as Gold Chief, within the first “Star Wars” movie, and would go on to reprise the position within the “New Hope” prequel “Rogue One.” Different credit embrace “Eyes Large Shut,” “The Black Dahlia,” “System 51” and “Rhythm & Blues.”
